Autumn has arrived and I for one cannot wait to snap a few aesthetic fall photos, but I know some of us don’t live in the most photogenic areas. No worries, I am here to help. Travel and Leisure, one of the best places for all things travel, has helped compile a great list of the most aesthetically pleasing places in Autumn.
As the air grows colder, and the days become shorter, everyone knows it’s close to the time for nature to bring about its array of fall colors. Across the United States towns turn to inferno as colors ignite all through the area bringing the colors of fall right outside your door.
With the help of Travel and Leisure I’ve compiled my own list of the three most beautiful towns in Autumn.
Skaneateles has some of the most photogenic landscapes in America in the fall. The Skaneateles Lake is absolutely breathtaking as the colors from the trees nearby reflect on the water. Foliage along the lake turn to bold reds, oranges, and yellows creating a picture worthy landscape every moment of the day.
The walking paths that run along the town and lake burst into colors of fiery red and orange. The leaves fall along the pavement creating a complete path of color.
If my words don’t draw you in to wanting to visit Skaneateles, and you need more proof check out two of the photos below.
Sometimes you have to travel to the outskirts to find some of the best places, and Stillwater is no exception.
This town is truly underrated any other time of year because in Minnesota it is only seen as a shopping district, so not many people take in the beauty of it. Although, once the fall colors arise all eyes turn to this town in Minnesota.
Stillwater has become such a tourist attraction, especially in the fall, that the town offers specific tours out on the St. Croix River to show off all of the town’s colors.
The town looks like something out of a storybook in the autumn. Trees and bushes burst into color and surround homes, businesses, and streets, so that everywhere you look there is always the feel of autumn around.
One thing that is recommended to do, if you visit Stillwater in the fall, is to make sure that you go on the St. Croix River Cruise, because you not only get to be surrounded by all of the aesthetically pleasing autumn colors, but you also get to see the entire town of Stillwater from the river. The cruise is a guided tour of attractions, mansions, and of course a bit of history of the town.
As many tourists already travel out to Salem, MA for Halloween, some focus too much on the spooky aspect, and not enough time on the town itself.
Salem offers a Haunted Happenings program that allows tourists and townspeople alike to all get involved in the events of Halloween that involve zombies in your hotel to vampires at your dining areas.
Although Salem is known for its ghost, goblins, and ghouls, I think many would love Salem even more for its fall foliage.
The colors of Salem in the fall run along the roads connecting interstates to small towns, and then intertwine connecting towns to the cities. Most of the towns look like autumn breathed its color onto the foliage creating a picturesque scene that is breathtaking.
If you don’t want to travel to Salem just for the colors and do want to get into the festivities of the season as well make sure to stop by the Witch House, which is the only home in Salem with ties to the Witch Trials from 1692. You’ll get the thrills of the season, but this house is also decked out in the colors of autumn as its set right in the middle of a small forest.
These towns are both pleasing to the eye in autumn, but also have great things to do in each of them this time of year. Be sure to check out at least one of these aesthetically autumn areas before the season is over. I promise that you will not be disappointed.
Lastly, if you need a little extra something to make yourself go to one of these areas check out these Groupons for a little discount on things to do.
51% a walking tour of Salem, MA. This is a 90-minute walking tour of the mysteries and happenings of Salem ranging from the witch trials, to now-a-day sightings of strange occurrences.
Mid-Lakes Navigation is offering great food at a discount for a limited time this fall in Skaneateles, NY, so once your guiding cruise is over be sure to hop over here for some casual cooking.
While you are in Stillwater, MN stop off at Axdahl’s Garden Farm and Greenhouse where you can attend a hayride, but also stop off for some produce. Discounts off of the hayride and produce are both available in a combined rate from Groupon.
Be sure to not only visit a town for its aesthetic autumn colors, but make sure to find out what makes that town so special. There are of course many other towns that would be great for travel, but these are my top three Autumn towns to travel to.
